Mobility training: debunking the myth
Mobility training has seen a large uptake in performance sport, leading to general and blanket implementation. This paper challenges the efficacy of this approach through the consideration of mechanical forces and an explanation of how the body responds and interacts with them. Mechanical terms are explained, together with how the forces they represent act upon the body. The article will explore how mechanical forces shape, form and function within the human body, with this then framing mobility. This contextualisation of mobility within mechanics leads to the recommendation of a more specific use of mobility modalities that harness mechanical forces and the adaptive responses.
