Talent detection: do jumping performances correlate with maturation levels, and what are the differences within maturation groupings?
Rich Kite
Talent detection (TDE) seeks to identify talented athletes via the assessment of non-sport-specific physical characteristics that underpin athletic performance. TDE protocols are traditionally administered within set chronological age boundaries, thus disregarding within-group variation in biological maturation. To address this limitation, we sought to determine whether the performance of field-based TDE jumping assessments correlate with maturation; we also report differences in performance within maturation groupings (early, average and late).
