Masters & servants: How the preparation framework serves the performance model
This session will use surfing and rebellion as a backdrop: Jeremy will propose the importance of having a detailed understanding of what constitutes performance in the sport(s) you work with, applying this knowledge to create individual gap analysis, and how to use this to create a preparation and assessment framework for the sport, and also to individualise programmes. BIOG: Through the Canadian Sport Institute, Jeremy Sheppard is the Sport Science and Medicine Lead for Canada Snowboard, and the S&C lead for the Slopestyle and Big Air national team. Prior to this he was the Sport Science Manager and Head of S&C with Surfing Australia, and has held positions in S&C and sport science with Queensland Academy of Sport, Australian Institute of Sport, and the Canadian Sport Centre, with consulting stints in the NRL, NFL, and AFL. Jeremy is a Master Coach and Life Member with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Coach Emeritus with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has PhD, Masters, and undergraduate degrees, and a post-graduate diploma in Elite Coaching. Jeremy, his wife Tracey, and son Jake divide their time between Victoria and Tofino on Vancouver Island, and Whistler on the Canadian mainland.
