The Olympic lifts, the snatch and clean, are a common and popular exercise prescribed by S&C coaches to develop force and power qualities in athletes. As with any exercise, the mere inclusion of the exercise in a strength training programme will not result in the desired adaptations, unless it is performed with correct technique and with appropriate loadings etc. In terms of developing technical mastery of the Olympic lifts, it is vital that the technique of the pull is mastered to ensure successful execution of the snatch and clean,and so produce the desired training effect.
