Transfer of strength training - implications from how the central nervous system works

Frans Bosch

Traditionally sport specific strength training usually is oriented to the extreme towards mechanics, even to the extent that Isaac Newton might well appear to be a more important founder of the theory of strength training than all the neurophysiologists that lived in the centuries after him combined. Because the transfer of sport specific strength training to competition performance is key, the laws of transfer, e.g. the laws of motor learning should be central in designing a strength programme.
