Assessing 5m, 10m and 20m sprint times with single-photocell electronic timing gates (ETGs) is commonplace within many athletic performance testing batteries and scientific studies, yet detailed sex-specific reliability statistics for these data have yet to be reported. This study, therefore, assessed the within- and between-session reliability of 5m, 10m and 20m sprint times attained via single-photocell ETGs for athletic men and women. Results showed that assessing maximal 5m, 10m and 20m sprint times of athletic men and women, using single-photocell ETGs, is reliable but highlighted sex-specific thresholds for determining meaningful changes in sprint times at these distances.
