This article aims to address the increasing problem of inadvertent doping in sport as a consequence of the use of supplements. The authors offer advice to athletes and support staff on how the risk of such doping can be minimised. We present a review of the evidence outlining the prevalence of doping attributed to supplement use, together with information that highlights the significant consequences of falling foul of anti-doping regulations. Clear recommendations will also be provided to help athletes minimise the risk of inadvertent doping.
