New UKSCA membership fee announcement

27/09/2024

The UKSCA exists to support our members and following our Annual General Meeting (AGM) earlier this month, we are announcing our new membership fees.

At the AGM on 13 September, the Board proposed membership fee adjustments, and we would like to thank the members who took the time to attend that meeting and engage in that discussion. After the discussion, by a show of hands, the members voted unanimously to support the Board’s recommendation to increase the Accredited member fees to £90, effective 1 October 2024, the first increase since 2013.

Aside from inflationary increases, the business and costs associated with running the UKSCA have changed over recent years. For example, the relative costs of postage and printing to the business have decreased but that of our IT system’s servers and software has increased. As such, it is difficult to present a clear recommendation based on historic costs of the business, projected forwards.

Given this background, the Board’s rationale for a change to fees was simple, go with the recommendation of the people whose job it is to manage the UK’s economy, and use the Bank of England’s inflation calculator!

This calculator, which can be found here, is used to compare how prices have changed in the UK over any time period, from 1209 to present day. The Board will use this calculator each year to track how inflation affects our membership costs and corresponding fees and bring any recommended changes to members at each AGM.

This new fee structure will help the UKSCA to continue to support our passionate members to better the profession.
